Boards warp and open joints for the same two reasons: moisture swing and a bad glue line. We condition blanks to 8–10 % before the final sand, laminate with food-grade PU, and quote a thickness-to-carton optimisation so 18 mm boards stack 12 per carton rather than 10. That single change is often worth more than a cent of material negotiation.

Do I need food-contact testing for a plain oiled board?
For the EU yes in practice: buyers and marketplaces ask for the LFGB / 1935/2004 report even where the material is obviously timber, and the coating is what gets questioned. For the US, FDA-compliant coatings plus a Prop 65 statement is the working minimum. We hold current reports and give you the number to reference. That is worth more than a generic 'food safe' claim on your listing.
Bamboo or acacia for a first programme?
Bamboo for a promo giveaway with your logo; acacia for a retail shelf where the grain sells the price. Many customers run one of each: bamboo as the entry SKU, acacia as the hero, and a gift bundle above both.
What is the minimum order for my own size?
500 pcs per size in stock timber, and no tooling charge because we cut on a CNC with your drawing. New species or a new laminate above 40 mm asks for 1,000 pcs because of the board purchase.
Can you air-freight a small run for an event date?
Yes. Boards are dense and flat, which is exactly what air likes. 500 pcs at 380 × 280 × 18 mm is roughly 340 kg billable; 12–15 working days door to door with our broker, and we consolidate with other small runs.
