What Holtmill is
We started in 2009 making loose picture-frame moulding for domestic frame shops. The export side grew out of a single complaint: overseas buyers could not tell whether the workshop they were paying was a factory or an office with a catalogue. So we built the factory we wished we had dealt with, one gate, one QA bench, one person answering the phone, and then documented everything a Western buyer asks for but rarely receives unprompted.
Today the yard runs three shifts from March to October. Our order book is deliberately mixed: container programmes for garden chains, monthly moulding reorders for frame shops, 100-piece runs for online pet brands, and ISPM-15 crating for instrument importers. That mix is what keeps machines loaded when a single seasonal category goes quiet.
The physical plant
Six connected areas on one floor plate, so a profile is cut, primed, dried, assembled and boxed without leaving the building — which is the real reason our lead times beat a cluster average of 55–60 days.
Two sliding-table saws, a CNC double-mitre saw and a cross-cut optimiser cut every job first.
≈ 9,000 pcs / dayA four-head moulder with a 31-profile knife library, plus two CNC routers for curved and machined parts.
≈ 6,500 m / dayTwo kiln chambers at 80 m³ hold 10–12 % moisture; a warm VOC bake-out line follows.
160 m³ per cycleSpray booth and ACQ dip tank, UV digital print and CO₂ laser engraving under the same roof.
3 colour changes / dayTwelve benches, moisture meters, a torque rig and a drop-test bay on the same floor plate.
AQL 2.5 standardShrink wrapper, strapping, two forklifts and covered staging for three containers.
18–24 containers / dayPeople, quality system and who you actually talk to
Forty-two people on the floor and six in export and QC. Each order carries a job number that ties together the timber lot, the kiln curve, the treatment charge number, the moisture readings, the first-article photo and the pre-shipment report. If a pallet is questioned eighteen months later, we can reconstruct it. That is the whole quality argument in one sentence.
