Construction & materials

Materials, moisture and finish

Frames fail on moisture and on coating build-up. We machine at 10–12 % and hold the total film thickness under 90 µm so a rebate still accepts a 1.2 mm matboard and a 2.5 mm back without stress. Export orders are packed with 2 g desiccant per carton and a moisture reading on the inspection sheet.

For the US we quote solid timber (out of TSCA scope) or certified composite board, and supply the Lacey Act plant-product data your broker needs for the PPBM declaration. Objections we handle weekly

Can you make a frame to an exact non-standard size, like 13 × 17 in?

Yes. That is the point of a factory. Non-standard sizes cost the same tooling as a standard size because we cut on a CNC double mitre saw with a program per size; only the mat window is new work. MOQ 300 pcs per unusual size, sample in 5 days.

What is the difference between your entry frame and the next tier up?

Face width and coating count. The entry build is a 15 mm single-coat primed poplar in bulk; the next tier buys a 32 mm three-coat pine frame with corner keys, acrylic and a printed sleeve. We will quote both so you can place the product in the right shelf tier.

Do you supply mat boards and print the inserts?

Yes. 1.2 mm matboard cut to your window, acid-free option for gallery lines, and digital or screen printing of prints and insert cards. Bundling the print with the frame turns a small frame order into a three-times-larger one for most gift-shop buyers.

How do you control corner gaps on painted frames?

Three habits: spline-keyed joints instead of glue-only, a two-minute clamping cycle before the finish line, and a 0.2 mm relief cut in the rebate corner so paint cannot bridge and lift. We photograph 10 pcs per batch and attach it to the pre-shipment report.
