Bamboo is lighter and more dimensionally stable in a wet tray, and it carries the eco story that garden buyers respond to. Pine is cheaper and takes a food-safe oil beautifully. Both fail the same way if the base is not sealed before assembly. Which is why we seal first and slot after.

Trays and saucer racks sell as add-ons at the till and as sets online. They are also the cheapest way for a garden centre to lift the average basket on a pot sale.
Clamp range, torque limit and load rating tested and printed on the fixing bag.
4 mm slots and a 5 mm stand-off so a wet pot never stains render or warps the shelf.
Larch or treated pine; interior lacquer never sold for balcony use.
Technical file, EU responsible-person data and market-specific fixing instructions.
Anything sold for food-growing gets the food-contact statement: EU 1935/2004 and the migration report for the finish, or an explicit note that the raw version is not declared for direct food contact. US orders carry the same statement plus a Prop 65 note where a coating requires it.

Water-resistant and controlled, which is what a windowsill needs. The base is sealed before assembly and the slots are cut afterwards, so water drains where intended rather than soaking the end grain. It is not a bucket: if a customer leaves 3 cm of standing water for a week, we will not pretend otherwise.
Because they answer the same question and the set converts better. The rack lifts pots so the base dries; the tray catches what drains. Sold separately each is a cheap add-on; sold together it is a small system, and the basket value roughly doubles.
